A história da Fernanda e do Caleb começou lá atrás, em 2010. Naquela época, a Fernanda fez um intercâmbio para a cidade de Savannah, no estado da Geórgia, nos Estados Unidos. Acompanhada de dois grupos de brasileiros que seriam monitores de um acampamento infantil durante o verão americano, Fernanda passou o mês com um dos grupos em uma YMCA, praticando inglês e usando todo o repertório de atividades e músicas que havia aprendido para manter as crianças entretidas.
Em seu último fim de semana em Savannah, o grupo do qual Fernanda participava foi auxiliar o outro grupo de brasileiros, que estava em uma YMCA diferente. Na época, Caleb trabalhava nessa YMCA, e foi então que eles se viram pela primeira vez. A conexão dos dois foi instantânea! Conversaram, tiraram fotos e, claro, trocaram Facebook (Orkut? Ele nunca tinha ouvido falar!).
Depois que Fernanda voltou para o Brasil, eles mantiveram contato pelas redes sociais. Mas foi em 2013 que a conversa se tornou mais constante, passavam horas conversando pelo Skype, até que, no final daquele ano, Caleb veio visitar Fernanda no Brasil pela primeira vez. O irmão da Fernanda, Guilherme, a acompanhou até o aeroporto para recebê-lo— e ele apareceu todo arrumado, de terno!
Caleb passou quase um mês em terras brasileiras, conheceu vários pontos turísticos em Minas Gerais, os amigos dela, passou o Natal com a família da Fernanda e, para fechar com chave de ouro, viveu a magia de passar o Ano-Novo no Rio de Janeiro (e foi lá que ele conheceu a habilidade do sol carioca em causar insolação em gringo!). Eles viajaram na companhia de Guilherme, suas primas, Vanessa e Tânia, e seus amigos, Thales e Andrew. Os momentos que viveram juntos firmaram as conexões do Caleb com o Brasil e ali se confirmou uma amizade para a vida entre a história dele e a dela.
E, acreditem ou não, naquela viagem ele já sabia que era com a Fernanda que queria se casar! Mas ela, como boa mineira desconfiada, achou que era só emoção do momento… o tempo, no entanto, provaria o contrário.
Com o passar do tempo, a conversa diária foi se tornando cada vez mais sólida e, então, começaram as viagens. Em todas as férias da Fernanda, ela visitava o Caleb nos Estados Unidos, e ele, sempre que podia, vinha ao Brasil vê-la. Em 2016, Caleb teve a oportunidade de morar no Brasil por um semestre, consolidando ainda mais a relação dos dois.
E assim foi. Mesmo à distância, sempre se mantiveram presentes na vida um do outro. Continuaram conversando e se encontrando sempre que possível. Compartilharam aniversários, formaturas e muitos outros momentos especiais. Mesmo diante de todos os desafios que surgiram no caminho, nunca perderam a esperança de um dia estarem juntos. Nem mesmo a pandemia, que os afastou por mais de um ano, foi capaz de enfraquecer o que já estava concretizado!
Foi em 2023, diante da família da Fernanda, que Caleb fez o pedido — e a resposta não poderia ter sido diferente: um “sim” emocionado, testemunhado pelos olhares amorosos dos pais, Eni e Eduardo; dos irmãos, Guilherme e Matheus; dos cunhados, Raphael e Monique; dos tios, Solange, Vilma e Sérgio; e da querida avó Terezinha.
Ainda em 2023, Fernanda se mudou para os Estados Unidos, eles se casaram no civil, adotaram um cachorrinho lindo chamado Gohan (sim, Caleb é fã de Dragon Ball Z!) — a alegria da casa — e, juntos, criaram um lar na Califórnia.
2025 é o ano que eles escolheram para celebrar a união diante de suas famílias e amigos. E, claro, tinha que ser no Brasil, terra pela qual Caleb se apaixonou desde a primeira vez que pisou no país, lá em 2013!
Tudo o que eles mais desejam para esse dia é que todos se divirtam muito e celebrem o amor — todas as formas de amor — de perto ou à distância!

The story of Fernanda and Caleb began back in 2010. At that time, Fernanda went on an exchange program to the city of Savannah, in the state of Georgia, USA. Accompanied by two groups of Brazilians who were going to be camp counselors during the American summer, Fernanda spent the month with one of the groups at a YMCA, practicing English and using all the activities and songs she had learned to keep the children entertained.
On her last weekend in Savannah, Fernanda’s group went to assist the other group of Brazilians, who were at a different YMCA. At the time, Caleb worked at that YMCA, and that was when they met for the first time. Their connection was instant! They talked, took photos, and, of course, exchanged Facebook (Orkut? He’d never heard of it!).
After Fernanda returned to Brazil, they kept in touch via social media. But it wasn’t until 2013 that their conversations became more frequent, they spent hours talking on Skype, until, at the end of that year, Caleb traveled to visit Fernanda in Brazil for the first time. Fernanda's brother, Guilherme, went with her to the airport to welcome Caleb — and he showed up all dressed up, in a suit!
Caleb spent nearly a month in Brazil, visited several tourist spots in Minas Gerais, met her friends, spent Christmas with Fernanda’s family, and to top it all off, experienced the magic of New Year's in Rio de Janeiro (and it was there that he discovered Rio’s glorious ability to give a gringo sunburn!). They traveled with Guilherme, her cousins Vanessa and Tânia, and their friends, Thales and Andrew. The moments they shared anchored Caleb’s connection with Brazil and began a lifelong friendship between his story and hers.
Believe it or not, during that trip, he already knew that Fernanda was the one he wanted to marry! But she, as a good Minas Gerais native, was skeptical and thought it was just the excitement of the moment... Time, however, would prove her wrong.
As time went by, their daily conversations grew stronger, and then the trips began. During every vacation, Fernanda would visit Caleb in the United States, and he, whenever he could, would come to Brazil to see her. In 2016, Caleb had the opportunity to live in Brazil for a semester, which further solidified their relationship.
And so it went. Even from a distance, they always stayed present in each other's lives. They continued talking and meeting whenever possible. They shared birthdays, graduations, and and many other special moments. Despite all the challenges that came their way, they never lost hope of one day being together. Not even the pandemic, which kept them apart for over a year, could weaken what had already been built!
In 2023, in front of Fernanda’s family, Caleb made the proposal and the answer could not have been different: an emotional "yes", witnessed by the loving gazes of her parents, Eni and Eduardo, her brothers, Guilherme and Matheus, her siblings-in-law, Raphael and Monique, her aunts, Solange and Vilma, and her uncle, Sérgio, and her beloved grandmother Terezinha.
Still in 2023, Fernanda moved to the United States, they got married legally, adopted a lovely puppy named Gohan (yes, Caleb is a Dragon Ball Z fan!) — the joy of the house — and together, they created a home in California.
2025 is the year they chose to celebrate their union in front of their families and friends. And, of course, it had to be in Brazil, the country Caleb fell in love with the first time he set foot there, back in 2013!
All they wish for this day is for everyone to have a great time and celebrate love — all forms of love — whether near or far!
